2 Arrested For Discharging Firearms At Funeral In Western North

The Western North Regional Police Command has successfully arrested two suspects involved in the unlawful possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration in Attakrom, near Bibiani, following a viral video that captured the incident.

According to a press release from the Regional Police Headquarters, “The Western North Regional Police Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of two suspects in connection with the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration.”

The statement clarifies that the arrests were made after a thorough investigation into the incident, which occurred on March 14, 2025, and was widely shared across social media platforms.

The suspects, identified as Frank Afoko, aged 41, and Kojo Agyapong, aged 31, were apprehended on April 2, 2025, at approximately 2 PM.

“On April 2, 2025, at about 1400 hours, the Western North Police Intelligence Department, with support from personnel of the Formed Police Unit, successfully apprehended suspects Frank Afoko and Kojo Agyapong,” the press release explained.

This operation was a result of the police’s investigation into a video that went viral, showing individuals discharging firearms unlawfully during a funeral service.

The press release continues to detail the outcome of the police interrogation: “The suspects were interrogated by the Regional Investigation Team led by the Crime Officer, and they admitted to being the individuals featured in the video footage.”

As a result of their confessions, both suspects are now in custody and are assisting the police with further investigations.

The police also confirmed that the suspects were not the only individuals involved in the incident.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident who remain at large,” the statement said, indicating that the investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests may be made.

The Western North Regional Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order in the region, urging the public to report any information that may assist in locating the remaining suspects.

“The Western North Regional Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region,” the statement concluded.

“The Command urges the public to report any information that could assist in the arrest of the remaining suspects.”
