738 Parcels Of UK-Bound Cannabis Busted At Kotoka’s Swissport Terminal

The ongoing battle against transnational narcotics trafficking recorded a major breakthrough on Friday, July 5, when operatives from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) intercepted a large consignment of suspected cannabis concealed in export-bound cargo at the Swissport Terminal of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The seizure—one of the largest in recent months—involved 738 compressed parcels of suspected cannabis cleverly disguised in 40 boxes falsely labelled as “assorted food items.”

The illicit cargo was destined for the United Kingdom, underscoring Ghana’s recurring role as a strategic transit point in the international drug supply chain, especially to European markets.

According to NACOC, the operation followed several weeks of intelligence-led surveillance, culminating in the interception of the illegal consignment just before it was loaded for shipment.

Two suspects have already been arrested and are assisting authorities with investigations.

However, two key suspects believed to be central figures in the smuggling network—identified as Lincoln Nii Okaija (born March 27, 1979) and a woman known as Kate Davidson, alias “Esi”—have fled and are currently on the run.

NACOC has declared both individuals wanted and is urging members of the public to provide any information that could lead to their capture.

Authorities believe the duo played critical roles in coordinating the trafficking operation and may have connections with overseas drug distribution networks.
