Ahmed Suale’s Friend Sold Him To Kennedy Agyapong

A shocking twist has emerged in the murder case of investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale, as a 35-year-old businessman, Daniel Owusu Koranteng, remanded in custody until April 1, 2025.

Daniel Koranteng, a close friend of Suale who had all worked for Anas Aremeyaw Anas Tiger Eye, is alleged to have given Suale’s photographs to Kennedy Agyapong, which led to Suale’s death.

According to the facts of the case presented by Police Prosecutor Chief Inspector Nana Afuabamfoa Bamfo, Daniel Koranteng and Suale were both employees of Tiger Eye Company, led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Daniel Koranteng had multiple interactions with Suale and his family before his death, and tensions escalated in June 2018 when Agyapong showed images of Suale on Net 2 TV, calling for retribution against the investigative journalist.

The prosecutor stated that Ahmed Suale later identified Koranteng as the person who provided Agyapong with his photographs.

On January 16, 2019, Ahmed Suale was shot and killed in Madina, and call records placed Koranteng in Madina near Suale’s residence before and at the time of the murder.

Daniel Koranteng admitted to knowing Suale, visiting Agyapong, and having taken photographs with Suale, but denied selling the photographs to anyone.

The prosecutor said police investigation is ongoing to identify other suspects in the case.

The accused’s counsel, Kofi Essel, argued for bail, stating that his client had persons of sufficient means to stand as sureties.

However, the magistrate, Susanna Nyarkotey, questioned why someone alleged to have sold photographs would be held for murder.

The case has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with many calling for justice for Suale’s family.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has commended the police for arresting Koranteng.
