For Girls’ Ritual Leads To Brutal Murder Of Seamstress

By Grace Zigah

The peaceful community of Twifo Praso in the Central Region has been rocked by a chilling murder case involving two young men and the death of a 21-year-old seamstress, Zenabu Tahiru.

The case, which has sparked outrage and heartbreak, is now under intense police investigation as disturbing details emerge about how a failed love charm, known locally as “for girls,” allegedly led to her killing.

Background

Zenabu Tahiru was a budding fashion designer residing in Kokoase, a suburb of Twifo Praso.

On April 3, 2025, her lifeless body was discovered in her room under suspicious and gruesome circumstances.

She was found with a cloth tied around her neck, bloodstains on her hands, and multiple incriminating items nearby, including a super glue container, a used condom wrapper, and an apple—clues investigators believe may be connected to ritual practices.

Initial police reports revealed that Richard Armah, a 28-year-old auto mechanic, had developed an interest in Zenabu, which she declined.

Following the rejection, Armah allegedly turned to a close friend, Isaac Arhin, 24, known in local entertainment circles as “Fresh DJ,” for help.

Arhin then introduced him to a spiritualist, initiating what was believed to be a ritual designed to compel Zenabu’s affection—“for girls” charm commonly used in clandestine love spells.

Ritual Failure Turns Deadly

According to the Central North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, the charm failed to produce the desired.

In what police describe as a shocking turn of events, Arhin and the unidentified spiritualist allegedly went to Zenabu’s residence on the day of her murder.

There, they reportedly sexually assaulted her and then strangled her to death, fearing she had recognized them.

After the crime, Zenabu’s phone was allegedly taken from the crime scene and handed over to Armah.

This key detail ultimately became the lead that broke the case. Police tracked the phone, which led to Armah’s arrest.

During interrogation, Armah allegedly confessed and implicated Arhin, leading to his arrest shortly afterward.

Court Proceedings

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, both suspects appeared for the first time before the Twifo Praso District Court.

Presiding Judge Maxwell Kpodo remanded them into police custody, ordering that they reappear on May 21, 2025.

The hearing drew large crowd of local residents, many of whom were visibly shaken and furious as they demanded justice for the young seamstress.

Outside the courtroom, the atmosphere was tense, with community members expressing disbelief over the bizarre and tragic motive behind Zenabu’s murder.

Family members and friends mourned her loss, describing her as kind-hearted and ambitious, with dreams of running her own fashion business.

Police Investigations Ongoing

DCOP Acquaye assured the community that investigations were “far advanced” and reiterated the police’s commitment to uncovering all individuals involved—including the unnamed spiritualist, who remains at large.

He also appealed to the public for any additional information that might assist in the investigation.

“We understand the pain and anger this case has caused. We are working diligently to ensure that justice is served for Zenabu and her family,” DCOP Acquaye stated.

He urged calm, cooperation, and patience as the police work to bring all perpetrators to book.
