GES Takes Free SHS To Public

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken a step to engage the public on the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2017.

The GES has launched a public survey to gather opinions on the policy’s impact and identify areas for improvement.

According to the GES, the survey aims to assess the effectiveness of the Free SHS policy and the Double Track System, which was introduced to accommodate the rising student population.

The survey will gather opinions from students, parents, teachers, and the general public on the policy’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Free SHS policy has been a contentious issue in Ghana, with proponents arguing that it has increased access to education for disadvantaged students.

However, critics argue that the policy has put a strain on the education system, leading to overcrowding, infrastructure constraints, and teaching quality issues.

The GES has emphasized that the survey is part of a genuine effort to improve the education system. ”

The survey has sparked interest among stakeholders, with some calling for a thorough review of the policy.

The GES has assured the public that the survey is anonymous and confidential, and that all opinions will be taken into consideration.

The survey is expected to run for several weeks, after which the GES will analyze the data and present its findings to the public.
