A devastating road accident occurred on the Kumasi-Sunyani Highway this morning, resulting in the loss of five lives.
The tragic incident involved a Toyota Rav4 vehicle and a commercial Kia Truck, which collided head-on between Duayaw Nkwanta and Bechem in the Ahafo Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the Rav4 vehicle was carrying passengers, all of whom sadly lost their lives in the accident.
The driver and mate of the Kia Truck sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
Reports suggest that the deceased individuals may have been relatives traveling to or from a funeral, as they were all dressed in black attire.
The Ghana Police Service and Ghana Fire Service from both Duayaw Nkwanta and Bechem quickly responded to the scene to assist and ease traffic.
This tragic incident is not the first of its kind on the Sunyani-Berekum Highway.
In previous years, there have been reports of fatal accidents on this stretch of road, resulting in significant loss of life.
The Police have commenced investigations into the cause of the accident, and the nation mourns the loss of five precious lives.
