Gifty Oware Mensah, the former Deputy Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), has returned to Ghana, determined to clear her name amidst allegations of financial misconduct and mismanagement during her tenure at the NSA.
Upon her arrival at Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, she was met by officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
In a brief statement to the press, Gifty expressed her willingness to cooperate fully with the investigation.
“I have returned to Ghana to clear my name and assist the authorities in their investigations. I have nothing to hide and am confident that the truth will prevail,” she said.
This statement demonstrates her commitment to due process and her eagerness to prove her innocence.
Gifty’s return to Ghana comes amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of financial irregularities, including the misappropriation of funds meant for national service personnel, irregular award of contracts, and failure to follow due process in financial transactions.
These allegations have sparked public outrage, with many calling for accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.
The investigation was initiated following a series of audits and reports that raised red flags about the misuse of funds and procurement breaches within the authority
Gifty’s decision to present herself to the NIB has been described as a positive step by legal experts, who believe it demonstrates her commitment to due process.
However, critics argue that the investigation should have been initiated earlier to ensure timely accountability.
The case has drawn significant public attention, with many Ghanaians expressing mixed reactions.
