I’m Ready To Cooperate – Ken Ofori-Atta Breaks Silence

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has finally broken his silence on the recent developments surrounding the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) investigation into allegations of financial misconduct against him.

In an open letter dated February 26, Ofori-Atta expressed his willingness to cooperate with the OSP and share the facts of the case with the public.

“I have been in the news recently in quite a dramatic manner. I thought it important that I share with you the facts surrounding recent events and news articles concerning me and the Special Prosecutor. I am as puzzled and dismayed, as I suspect you must be,” Ofori-Atta stated.

This statement suggests that Ofori-Atta is committed to transparency and accountability, and is willing to share the facts of the case with the public.

He further stated, “I thought it important that I share with you the facts surrounding recent events and news articles concerning me and Ghana’s Special Prosecutor.”

Ofori-Atta’s decision to break his silence comes after the OSP launched an investigation into his alleged involvement in multiple financial transactions, including the Strategic Mobilisation (SML)-GRA Contract, the termination of the ECG-BXC contract, payments related to the National Cathedral, the procurement of ambulances, and the utilisation of the Tax Refund Account.

These charges formed the basis for his inclusion on the OSP’s wanted list, a move that drew significant public attention and speculation.

However, in a fresh statement, the OSP announced that Ofori-Atta had officially communicated his intended date of returning to the jurisdiction.

As a result, the Special Prosecutor removed his name from the wanted list, stating, “Consequently, Mr. Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s list of wanted persons and the OSP ceases to consider Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice pending his voluntary return to the jurisdiction circa his stated date.”

Ofori-Atta’s voluntary return is now confirmed, and all eyes remain on the unfolding developments regarding the charges against him.

The OSP has warned that should he fail to return as scheduled, legal measures would be taken to ensure his compliance.

In his letter, Ofori-Atta reiterated his commitment to cooperating with the OSP, stating, “I thought it important that I share with you the facts surrounding recent events and news articles concerning me and Ghana’s Special Prosecutor.”

This statement demonstrates Ofori-Atta’s willingness to cooperate with the OSP and provide clarity on the allegations against him.
