KNUST Final Year Student Killer Arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Daniel Tuffour, the boyfriend of 21-year-old Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year Biological Science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in connection with her murder.

The arrest was made after a thorough investigation and review of internal CCTV footage.

According to the police, Tuffour was found in possession of the clothing worn during the crime, which has been retrieved as evidence.

He is currently being held for interrogation as the police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Yabani’s death.

The police have assured that they are working tirelessly to uncover the full details of the incident and to ensure that justice is served.

The Inspector-General of Police has personally engaged with the family of the deceased and the university community to assure them of the police’s commitment to solving the case.

Meanwhile, a statement from the university’s registrar, said the suspect, a fellow student and hostel mate of the deceased, was apprehended by the Regional Police after a thorough review of internal CCTV footage.

The suspect was found in possession of the clothing worn during the crime, which has been retrieved as evidence.

The university has appealed to students and members of the university community to remain calm as the police continue their investigations.

The management of KNUST has assured that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of students and the entire university community.

In the wake of the incident, the university has significantly reinforced security measures, including the deployment of over 50 police officers across campus, five mobile police patrol teams, and 34 patrol officers from the SWAT Unit.

Additional security personnel have been stationed at strategic locations, and the university’s internal security personnel have been strategically deployed to enhance vigilance.

The university has also revealed that 80% of the campus, including the location where the incident occurred, is under CCTV surveillance, with plans to achieve 100% coverage soon.

Students have been advised to prioritize their safety by walking in pairs, especially at night, avoiding dark and isolated areas, and reporting any suspicious activities immediately.

The university has expressed its deepest condolences to the parents and family of Joana Deladem Yabani and has urged students to contact the university’s security or student affairs offices for assistance.
