A heated debate has erupted between Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Advisor to President John Dramani Mahama, and Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI boss, over the dismissal of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
Joyce Mogtari took to social media to criticize those who sat idle while former President Akufo-Addo allegedly made “reckless financial decisions” and “frivolous appointments.”
She argued that now they are running to the Supreme Court to stop President Mahama from sacking IGP Dampare.
“It is trite learning that Leaders have to appoint persons loyal to them, especially when it comes to the safety and security of the country,” Joyce Mogtari stated.
Her comments imply that President Mahama has the right to appoint someone he trusts as IGP.
However, Franklin Cudjoe, IMANI boss, swiftly responded to Mogtari’s comments, questioning whether IMANI sat idle while Akufo-Addo made reckless decisions. “Really? Thanks,” Cudjoe tweeted.
Another Twitter user, Yaw Thinker Man, also joined the conversation, teasing Mogtari about disowning her “regime changer” so quickly.
“Eii Aunty Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the cock hasn’t crowed thrice and you’ve disowned your regime changer?” he tweeted.
Joyce Mogtari’s comments come amid reports that President Mahama has appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu as the new IGP, replacing Dampare while Franklin Cudjoe and others had gone to the Supreme Court to prevent the IGP’s dismissal.
The development has sparked controversy, with some arguing that the President has the right to appoint someone he trusts, while others claim that George Akuffo Dampare’s removal is unfair.
