A shocking crime has shaken the community of Sunyani Magazine, where a young man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and dumping her body in a septic tank.
The gruesome discovery was made on the evening of Friday, February 28, 2025, when the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) retrieved the nearly decomposed body of the victim.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect, who is currently in police custody, allegedly murdered his girlfriend approximately three weeks ago and disposed off her body in the septic tank in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The GNFS team, led by Station Officer Yahaya, arrived at the scene around 5:30pm on Friday, following a distress call that prompted an emergency response from the Sunyani Municipal Fire Station.
Regional Operations Officer DO II Noekor later joined the operation, which proved to be both challenging and sensitive due to the advanced state of decomposition.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities have yet to disclose the victim’s identity, but the incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.
The suspect’s motives for the alleged murder are still unclear, but the incident has raised concerns about the growing trend of domestic-related homicides in Ghana.
