The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to all its members to cease discussing issues that create disaffection within the party in the media.
This directive comes on the heels of the party’s defeat in the last election, which has left many members expressing their anger, disappointment, and frustration on various platforms.
“We acknowledge the disappointment and emotional distress caused by our defeat in the last election,” the party said in a statement.
“Many of us, as party members, have, on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration.
“However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time.”
According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, the directive is in line with the party’s constitution, which mandates him to coordinate the activities and operations of the party.
“As an officer of the Party, mandated by the Party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the Party; please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” he said.
The party has also reminded its members to be mindful of Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which enjoins them to promote and defend the good name of the party.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” Kodua Frimpong said.
