In a dramatic turn of events, the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police has arrested popular political commentator and broadcast journalist, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah.
According to eyewitnesses, the police seized his phone and escorted him to his house for a thorough search.
This arrest comes on the heels of a similar incident last week, where Okatakyie Afrifa was arrested by National Security operatives.
The Minority in Parliament had condemned the arrest among others, describing it as a “Rambo-style” intimidation tactic.
The previous arrest had sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for the government to respect the rights of citizens and freedom of expression.
Okatakyie Afrifa was later released, but the incident left many wondering about the government’s intentions.
The latest arrest has raised more questions than answers.
However, the Ghana Police Service has yet to release an official statement on the arrest, but sources close to the matter indicate that more information will be forthcoming soon.
In the meantime, the arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many calling for calm and restraint.
