Peter Agbeko Leads GJA 2025 Elections Committee

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has taken a significant step towards ensuring the success of its upcoming national and regional elections in June 2025.

In a move aimed at guaranteeing the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, the National Council of the GJA has appointed a three-member Elections Committee, chaired by Peter Martey Agbeko, a renowned PR/Media Consultant with extensive experience in GJA affairs and elections.

Peter Agbeko’s appointment is seen as a strategic move, given his impressive track record in managing complex electoral processes.

His previous stint as acting Chairman of the Elections Committee in 2022, where he successfully navigated a contentious election process, has earned him widespread recognition and respect within the GJA community.

Joining Peter Agbeko on the Elections Committee are two other distinguished individuals: Beatrice Asamani Savage, Director of Editorial at the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and Kwaku Owusu Peprah, Channel Manager of Joy News. Asamani brings over three decades of journalism experience to the table, while Peprah’s extensive experience working in the regions and his recognition as Journalist of the Year (2010) make him an invaluable asset to the committee.

The appointments are in line with Article 43(b)(i) of the GJA Constitution 2004, which mandates the National Council to appoint the Chairman and other members of the Elections Committee.

The committee’s primary responsibility will be to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections, ensuring that the democratic process is upheld.
