Sam George Sacks Akufo-Addo Appointees At NCA

In a discriminatory move, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George, has initiated a major shake-up at the National Communications Authority (NCA), sacking several appointees of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The latest casualty is Kwadwo Gyamfi Osafo-Maafo, Director of Cyber Security at the NCA, who received his dismissal letter on Velentine’s Day, February 14, 2025.

Osafo-Maafo’s dismissal is part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the Ministry and its agencies.
However observers say the action is discriminatory.

The Minister has requested the CVs of all Directors and senior management staff, signaling a potential leadership realignment.

Interestingly, Osafo-Maafo’s dismissal comes on the heels of his brother, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, being sacked as Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

Both brothers are sons of former Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In contrast, the wife of Rashid Pelpuo, NDC MP for Wa Central and Minister for Employment, was maintained as Director at NCA throughout the 8-year rule of the NPP.

This has raised eyebrows, with some questioning the motivations behind the sackings.
