Amid rumours and speculations surrounding Shatta Wale’s absence at the high-profile birthday celebration of businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, Sammy Flex, Shatta Wale’s manager, has set the record straight, providing a clear explanation of the events that led to the artist’s decision not to attend.
The event, which took place on March 22, 2025, at the Independence Square, was one of the most talked-about parties of the year, attended by an array of celebrities, business tycoons, and influential personalities from across Africa.
During a discussion on his YouTube channel on March 25, Sammy Flex addressed the various rumours circulating on social media about Shatta Wale’s invitation and subsequent absence from the extravagant birthday party.
According to Sammy Flex, Shatta Wale did receive an invitation to the event but was not able to attend due to several factors, none of which were related to the rumoured conflict between Shatta and other high-profile guests, including media mogul Despite.
Sammy denied widespread rumours that Richard Quaye had to choose between inviting Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, explaining that such claims were unfounded.
He also dismissed another rumour suggesting that Shatta intentionally skipped the event because the CEO of Despite Group of Companies was scheduled to attend.
According to Sammy, both of these speculations were completely unfounded.
In his explanation, Sammy Flex revealed that he was in London at the time of the invitation.
He received a call from one of the event organizers, identified as Soraya, who informed him of Shatta Wale’s invitation to the birthday party.
However, due to his location, Sammy Flex redirected her to another team member who was in Ghana to confirm the details.
Upon returning to Ghana, Sammy Flex spoke with his team member, who confirmed that Shatta Wale had indeed been invited.
Despite the official invitation, Sammy Flex stated that the decision for Shatta Wale not to attend may have stemmed from personal values that the artist holds in high regard.
Sammy emphasized that for some artists, attending social events may align with their values, which may involve networking, partying, and public appearances.
However, he noted that Shatta does not prioritize such events, often keeping a low profile and rarely seen in public spaces for casual socializing.
The absence, he clarified, was not about any personal animosity or external factors, but rather due to a misalignment of values regarding public events.
Sammy also responded to rumours claiming that Shatta demanded the same amount of money offered to Nigerian superstar Davido in exchange for his attendance.
He categorically stated that these claims were completely untrue, further dispelling the rumours swirling around the event.
