In the face of the fight against galamsey, three accused persons, Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed, have been arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The suspects were arrested by some youth of Akoase in the Eastern Region on March 21, 2025, and handed over to the police for their alleged involvement in galamsey.
According to reports, the three accused persons have been granted bail by the court, with the condition that they reappear on April 25, 2025.
This development comes as the authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged release of two Chinese suspects who were arrested alongside the three accused persons.
The issue of galamsey has been a longstanding concern in Ghana, with many calling for stringent measures to be taken against those involved in the practice.
