Armed Men Storm Peter Amewu’s Residence

In a brazen attack, unknown gunmen invaded the residence of former Hohoe Member of Parliament, John Peter Amewu, on Wednesday, March 5.

The assailants, who claimed to be acting on “orders from above,” allegedly insisted that Amewu was not properly elected as an MP in the 2020 elections.

According to Peter Amewu, one of the gunmen identified himself as a bailiff and claimed they were serving him a notice.

Peter Amewu, who was not present during the incident, revealed that the gunmen fired warning shots, sparking a confrontation with his supporters.

“They said they were there to serve me a notice because I was not duly elected in 2020, hence their decision to serve me. And that the C.I was not constitutional,” Amewu stated on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.

Peter Amewu’s supporters in Hohoe have reported the matter to the police, but the former MP has declined police protection.

The authorities are yet to provide further details on the incident.
