A coordinated armed robbery attack rocked Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region on Tuesday, leaving residents shocked and local businesses counting losses.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the brazen crimes, while the search continues for the remaining members of the criminal syndicate.

According to the Ahafo Regional Police Command, the syndicate launched simultaneous attacks on multiple targets, including a gold buying company, a cocoa purchasing station, and the Asutifi Rural Bank.

During the spree, the robbers seized two police rifles from a nearby police station and attempted to break into the bank’s vault, but were unsuccessful.

The assailants, reportedly armed with pump-action guns, also shot and wounded a civilian in the thigh.

The victim was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem and later discharged.

In addition, reports indicate that the robbers targeted a mobile money vendor, stealing an estimated GHS 12,000.

Chief Inspector Kwadwo Boakye, the Public Relations Officer for the Ahafo Regional Command, explained that a targeted intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of two suspects.

“A special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra has been deployed to assist our command in pursuing the remaining members of the syndicate,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police has vowed that all individuals involved will be brought to justice.

“We assure the public that all members of this criminal syndicate will be identified and face the full rigours of the law,” Chief Inspector Boakye stated.
