The Ashanti Caucus in the 9th Parliament has elected new leaders to steer the affairs of the group.
The new leadership is made up of experienced Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Ashanti Region.
The New Leadership
At the helm of the new leadership is Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, the MP for Asante Akyem Central, who has been elected as the Chairman of the Ashanti Caucus. He will be assisted by Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, the MP for Mampong, who has been elected as the 1st Vice Chairman.
Kofi Amankwaa Manu, the MP for Atwima Kwawonma, has been elected as the 2nd Vice Chairman, while Mavis Nkansah-Boadu, the MP for Afigya Sekyere East, has been elected as the 3rd Vice Chairman.
Other members of the new leadership include Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the MP for Tafo Pankrono, who has been elected as the Secretary, and Fred Kyei Asamoah, the MP for Offinso North, who has been elected as Assistant Secretary.
Adelaide Ntim, the MP for Nsuta-Kwaman-Beposo, has been elected as the Treasurer, while Akwasi Konadu, the MP for Manhyia North, has been elected the Chief Whip. Tony Mmieh, the MP for Odotobri, has been elected the Deputy Whip.
The election of the new leadership is seen as a significant development in the Ashanti Caucus, which has been a dominant force in Ghanaian politics.
The new leadership is expected to play a key role in shaping the agenda of the Ashanti Caucus in the 9th Parliament.
It’s worth noting that the Ashanti Region has been a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the election of the new leadership is seen as a move to strengthen the party’s grip on the region.
However, the new leadership will have to navigate these challenges and work to promote the interests of the Ashanti Region in Parliament.
