Dennis Aboagye Clashes With Mahama’s Aide Over Dampare’s Dismissal

A fierce online battle has erupted between Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a former Communications Director of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia campaign, and Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a cousin and advisor to President John Dramani Mahama.

The clash began when Mogtari took to Twitter to criticize the previous government’s handling of the country, particularly in relation to the appointment of IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

“They sat aloof and watched as our country was mismanaged, and looked on as former President Akufo-Addo made reckless financial decisions and just as many frivolous appointments,” she tweeted.

Joyce Mogtari’s comments were seen as a justification for President Mahama’s decision to dismiss IGP Dampare, a move that has been met with widespread criticism.

However, Miracles Aboagye was quick to respond, launching a scathing attack on Joyce Mogtari.

“An emotional advisor to the President – boi Get over it already madam cousin to the President,” Miracles Aboagye wrote.

“One of the most frivolous appointments this country has seen includes your cousin the President appointing you as his advisor and aide.”

Miracles Aboagye’s statement was a clear reference to Joyce Bawah Mogtari’s appointment as an advisor to President Mahama, which he deemed “frivolous.”

He went on to say that “no one cares about who you advise your cousin to appoint in your government” and that Mogtari’s “own words and lack of principles” were “catching up with” her.

The exchange didn’t end there, with Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, also weighing in on the conversation.

“You mean IMANI sat aloof and watched Nana Addo make reckless decisions? Really? Thanks,” he tweeted.

Background

George Akuffo Dampare was appointed by former President Nana Akufo-Addo in August 2021.

During his tenure, he implemented various reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ghana Police Service.

However, his dismissal by President Mahama has sparked widespread controversy, with many questioning the motives behind the decision.

The move has also been criticized by IMANI Africa and security analyst Kwesi Aning, who jointly filed an injunction at the Supreme Court to prevent the President from dismissing Dampare.
It’s alleged that Dampare sponsored the court case.

The court action has been seen as a bold attempt to block the President’s perceived intention to sack the IGP, who has been in the news lately for his unpopular decisions in the police service.
