GJA Holds AGM On 31st March

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 31, 2025, at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra.

This meeting is in line with Article 34(f) of the GJA Constitution 2004, which mandates the National Executive to convene the AGM in the first quarter of each year.

According to Kofi Yeboah, General Secretary of the GJA, “The AGM, which is the highest decision-making body of the Association, shall be convened by the National Executive in the first quarter of each year.”

This meeting provides an opportunity for members to discuss critical issues affecting the association and the journalism profession as a whole.

The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on the General Secretary’s Annual Report, the audited accounts of the Association, and regional reports.

In a statement, the GJ A said “All members in good standing as of December 31, 2024, are entitled to attend the AGM, with members in good standing, excluding honorary and student members, having the right to vote”.

Audrey Dekalu, Treasurer of the GJA, emphasized the importance of members’ participation in the AGM, stating that it is an opportunity for members to contribute to the decision-making process of the association.

Rebecca Ekpe, Public Affairs Officer of the GJA, also urged members to attend the meeting, saying, “The AGM is a crucial platform for members to engage with the National Executive and contribute to the growth and development of the association.”

The GJA has a history of holding AGMs, with the 2018 AGM taking place on October 26, 2018, at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra.

This year’s AGM promises to be an important event, with members expected to discuss and make decisions on critical issues affecting the association and the journalism profession.
