Immigration Officer Killer Faces Murder Charges

By Daniel Bampoe

In a disturbing development that has shocked the Kwabenya community and beyond, police investigators have uncovered critical forensic evidence linking Bright Aweh, a civilian, to the gruesome murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah.

The case, which initially started as a missing person report, has now escalated into a full-blown homicide investigation, with chilling details emerging from police probes.

Stephen King Amoah, an officer with the Ghana Immigration Service, was reported missing for six days.

He was last seen heading to the residence of Bright Aweh, reportedly to settle a financial dispute involving a debt Aweh owed him.

Amoah never returned. His charred remains were later discovered in a bush at Kwabenya—burnt almost beyond recognition—sending shockwaves across the nation.

Police sources indicate that Aweh had initially been arrested and charged with kidnapping after preliminary investigations.

However, fresh forensic findings have compelled law enforcement to rearrest him and prepare a murder charge.

An intensive search of Aweh’s residence revealed blood stains in his living room, suggesting that the crime may have occurred on the premises.

The CID Boss addressing a press conference on Monday said the Crime Scene investigators noted clear signs of a cover-up—walls had been freshly painted, and a discarded spray paint can was found in his room, presumably used to conceal the blood stains.

Further analysis of the house led officers to a specific room with more blood traces, confirming that there had been a violent struggle or attack.

But perhaps the most damning piece of evidence was discovered outside. About 100 meters from the suspect’s house, police located a fufu pestle wrapped in polythene, stained with what appeared to be blood.

The implement is suspected to have been used in the attack, though forensic tests are ongoing to confirm its connection to the crime.

Additionally, Aweh’s vehicle, which has since been impounded, also bore blood stains, strengthening the prosecution’s case.

These discoveries, police say, confirm suspicions that the suspect lured the victim into his home under the pretext of resolving a debt, only to brutally murder him and attempt to dispose off the body.

The suspect, Bright Aweh, is currently in police custody and is expected to appear before court on August 8. Prosecutors are finalizing documents to formally charge him with murder.
