Dr. Eric Oduro Osae, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), has officially announced his immediate departure from the agency, after serving since 2020.
In a letter dated Thursday, April 17, 2025, addressed to all stakeholders, Dr. Osae expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who supported, advised, and collaborated with him throughout his service at the agency.
It’s believed that he was forced to leave as has been the hallmark of the present administration, sacking all appointees of the immediate past administration.
Background And Achievements
During his tenure, Dr. Osae brought extensive experience in governance, public financial management (PFM), and law to his leadership at the Internal Audit Agency.
As a Chartered Accountant and a Lawyer, he worked diligently to strengthen internal audit practices within Ghana’s public sector.
Prior to leading the IAA, Dr. Osae served as a Technical Advisor on Governance to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) from 2017 to 2020, a role under the sponsorship of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Under Dr. Osae’s leadership, the Internal Audit Agency made significant strides in promoting good governance and transparency in the public sector.
His dedication to strengthening internal audit practices has had a lasting impact on the agency and the country as a whole.

In his parting letter, Dr. Osae thanked stakeholders for their support, advice, and collaboration during his tenure.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you for the support, advice, and the opportunity to be of service to God and country,” he noted.
