Kade Court Stops Asuom Radio Station Over Noise Pollution

A District court in Kade in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region has granted an ex-parte injunction against Asuom-based radio station, Esewani FM, and its affiliate, Esewani Information Centre, over allegations of noise pollution.

The court order, signed by Magistrate Emmanuel K. Boadu, directs the radio station and information centre to cease operations until the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assesses their noise permissible levels and grants them permission to operate.

The plaintiffs, Nana Boadi Ampomim Obodade III, Krontihene of Asuom, Nana Deibour I, Kyidomhene of Asuom, and Abusuapanin Abosi Agyei, all of Asuom, filed the lawsuit against Esewani FM and its affiliate, alleging that their activities have caused public nuisance and irreparable injuries to the plaintiffs and the good people of Asuom.

The court order, which was granted on March 4, 2025, states that the radio station and information centre must cease operations for 10 days, unless the order is repeated on notice.

The plaintiffs are seeking an order from the court to direct the defendants to be amenable to the regulations and activities of the information centres within Asuom and its environs.
