Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has taken legal action against two police officers, DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah, also known as Sir Mensah, for invading his residence without a warrant.
The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of Justice in Accra, seeks damages for trespass, aggravated damages for breach of privacy, and a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from entering his property or further breaching his privacy.
According to the writ of summons, Ofori-Atta claims that on February 11, 2025, the two defendants, along with 12 others, including nine military personnel carrying assault rifles, entered his property without prior notice or consent.

The team, led by Richard Jakpa, Director for Special Operations at the National Security Council Secretariat, conducted an extensive search of the property, including the compounds, bedrooms, open spaces, kitchen, cutlery, drawers, fridge, freezer, cupboards, closets, plates, and car.

The writ of summons states, “The Plaintiff says that the Defendants’ entry upon and conduct of a search on Plaintiff’s property…was trespassory and a breach of Plaintiff’s right to privacy.”

Ofori-Atta’s domestic staff were allegedly traumatized and sustained severe shock as a result of the raid.

The former minister claims that the conduct of the defendants and their cohorts was invasive of his property and privacy rights, and has caused him great anxiety and distress.
