Kotokoum Death Trap Bridge Shut Down

The Kotokoum Bridge in the Ashanti Region has been a ticking time bomb for nearly eight years, posing a significant danger to motorists, particularly farmers who rely on it to transport their produce to urban centers.

Despite repeated complaints from residents, the bridge’s deteriorating condition has only worsened over time.

However, following a recent assessment by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, a team of engineers, stormed the death trap bridge to access the situation as it has finally been closed for repairs, with work set to commence by Friday.

The bridge’s closure is a welcome relief to residents who have been advocating for its repair for years.

A video showcasing the bridge’s deplorable condition had gone viral, highlighting the urgency of the situation and prompting the government to take action.

The Ashanti Regional Security Council has advised motorists to use alternative routes during the repair period, a necessary inconvenience to ensure the safety of all road users.

The Kotokoum Bridge is a critical transportation artery, connecting several farming communities in the Atwima Mponua District.
