Kumasi Traders Root For Bawumia

Former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ignited an energetic scene in Kumasi’s Central Business District (CBD) as he visited the areas affected by a recent devastating fire.

The fire had left traders in shock, with many lamenting the destruction of their businesses.

However, upon Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s arrival, the atmosphere shifted dramatically.

Traders, who had previously been in despair, erupted into cheers, chanting “Bawumia b3ba” (Bawumia will come back) and “Bawumia na y3 p3” (We want Bawumia).

Dr Bawumia’s visit to the Adum market area of Kumasi was a highly anticipated moment for many, especially those who had suffered from the fire’s ravaging impact.

The fire, which caused significant losses, affected several businesses in the market.

In response to the plight of the traders, Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by prominent NPP figures such as Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as “Chairman Wontumi,” former Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, and MP for Subin Constituency Kofi Obiri Yeboah, wasted no time in offering support.

The former Vice President extended a donation of GH₵200,000 and 1000 bags of cement to help affected traders to rebuild their businesses. Dr. Bawumia expressed deep concern for the traders, describing the destruction as “heart-wrenching” and admitting that it had kept him awake at night.

He emphasized the urgency of government aid to help these traders get back on their feet, ensuring they can resume operations and restore their livelihoods.

Dr. Bawumia’s words of empathy and his financial commitment were well received by the traders, who expressed their gratitude.
