Kwakye Ofosu Takes On NPP

In a scathing critique, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has delivered a devastating blow to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), exposing their bloated government and its far-reaching economic consequences.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during a debate on the State of The Nation Address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama, Kwakye Ofosu meticulously dismantled the NPP’s defense of their oversized government.

He noted that President Mahama had campaigned on a promise to reduce the size of government, committing to work with 60 ministers.

This promise, Kwakye Ofosu explained, was a direct response to Ghanaians’ demands for a leaner, more efficient government.

“Ghanaians had urged upon the political class the need to reduce the size of government,” he said.

“President Mahama stated boldly that if he was elected, he would work with 60 ministers.”

In stark contrast, Felix Kwakye Ofosu highlighted the NPP’s hypocrisy on the issue.

“Our colleagues on the other side, who defended the appointment of 125 ministers, are now promising to work with 50 ministers,” he said, his voice dripping with incredulity.

“The worst economic outcomes this country has seen emanated from their performance between 2017 and 2020.”

Felix Kwakye Ofosu then turned his attention to the economic consequences of the NPP’s bloated government.

“After that point, all they did was try to patch up for the wrongs of 2020,” he said. “That terrible economic performance was brought about by the biggest government in our history of 125 ministers.”

To drive home his point, Kwakye Ofosu used his own ministry as a shining example of the savings that can be made with a reduced government.

“The Ministry of Information, which my colleague Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah used to head, had 76 people working there to manage government information,” he said.

“Today, it’s just myself, a deputy, and five other people managing government information.”

Felix Kwakye Ofosu also highlighted the significant reduction in presidential staffers under the current administration.

“Under President Akufo-Addo, there were 337 political appointees,” he said. “Today, we have 26 presidential staffers and four directors, totaling less than 60 people.”
