NDC Sacks NSS Volunteers Across Ghana

In a shocking development, President John Mahama’s NDC administration has terminated the appointments of thousands of National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers working across Ghana, effective February 28, 2025.

The move, which is part of the “JM Resetting” agenda, has left many stunned, including volunteers who do not receive salaries.

According to a circular issued by the National Service Authority (NSA) on February 15, 2025, the termination of appointments affects all volunteers in NSA offices, except for those in districts with only one staff member, who will be allowed to retain one volunteer assistant.

Additionally, volunteers managing vacant districts with limited support staff, such as cleaners, caterers, and farmhands, will also be exempted.

The NSA expressed gratitude to the dismissed volunteers for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to the scheme.

However, the move has sparked widespread disappointment and criticism, with many questioning the rationale behind the decision.

The NSS is a mandatory national service program for Ghanaian youth, which aims to promote national development and civic responsibility.
