Nduom Fights For Return Of Assets

Papa Kwesi Nduom, the president of Elmina Sharks and Groupe Nduom, has made a public announcement stating that he will not be granting any media interviews for the time being.

Nduom was accused of inciting fans against Elmina Sharks opponents, Swedru All Blacks, leading to a penalty.

This decision comes as Nduom prioritizes the recovery of his businesses’ licenses and the restoration of jobs that were lost in recent years.

In his statement, Papa Kwasi Nduom made it clear that his current focus is on these pressing matters rather than engaging with the media.

“All my work, efforts now go to getting back my companies’ licenses and bringing back 3,000 of the jobs that were lost,” Nduom explained, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the future of his businesses and the livelihoods of those affected.

He also apologized to those seeking interviews, saying, “Not now,” indicating that his immediate concerns were far more critical than media engagements.

A History of Challenges and Efforts to Revive Businesses

Papa Kwasi Nduom’s decision to withdraw from media interviews is set against the backdrop of significant challenges his businesses have faced in recent years.

His companies, notably Gold Coast Fund Management and GN Savings and Loans, were severely impacted by the financial sector cleanup initiated by the Bank of Ghana in 2019.

This cleanup resulted in the revocation of licenses of several financial institutions, including those affiliated with Nduom’s companies, leading to a loss of customer funds and considerable public scrutiny.

However, the task of recovering his businesses has been an uphill battle, requiring negotiations with various stakeholders and regulatory bodies to reinstate the companies and rebuild public trust.

GFA Ban And Financial Penalties

This announcement also coincides with a recent disciplinary issue involving Nduom in the world of football.

On February 16, 2025, Nduom was at the center of a controversy during a Division One League match between his football club, Elmina Sharks, and Swedru All Blacks.
The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee handed Nduom a three-month ban for misconduct following a violent altercation involving match officials.

The GFA found Nduom guilty of inciting attacks on referees and unlawfully entering the inner perimeter and field of play during the match.

As part of the punishment, Nduom was also fined GHS10,000 and issued a stern warning that any future misconduct would lead to harsher sanctions.

Despite these recent controversies, Nduom remains resolute in his decision to concentrate on rebuilding his business empire.
