NIB Frees Abronye Over GHC550m Allegations Against Mahama

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, on Wednesday was scrutinized by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) over allegations he made against President John Dramani Mahama.

Abronye, accompanied by his legal representatives, Lawyer Agyei Baffour Awuah and Lawyer Enoch Afoakwa, arrived at the NIB office in Kawukudi, where he was being questioned by security operatives.

The NIB’s invitation to Abronye stems from his recent claims that President Mahama withheld GH₵550 million intended for dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House.

Abronye alleged that the Akufo-Addo government had budgeted the funds for the appointees, but the Mahama administration canceled the appointments and transferred the funds to the Jubilee House.

Abronye’s allegations sparked a heated debate, with some calling for evidence to support his claims.

The NIB’s investigation is seen as an attempt to get to the bottom of the matter and determine the validity of Abronye’s allegations.

The NIB has requested that Abronye provide evidence to support his claims, and it remains to be seen what evidence he will present.

Accompanied by the National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, he was granted bail after 8 hours of interrogation.

The party has stated that it remains committed to standing by its members at all times.
