NPP Halts Party Card Issuance Amid Concerns Over Process Integrity

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the immediate suspension of the issuance of party identification cards, citing widespread inconsistencies and poor coordination across its regional and constituency branches.

In a memorandum dated April 8, 2025, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party leadership expressed serious concern over irregularities in the ongoing distribution of party ID cards.
The memo, addressed to Regional and Constituency Executive Committees, highlighted that the lack of a structured and uniform approach to the issuance process had raised alarms among party members, executives, and Members of Parliament.

“It has come to my attention that the ongoing issuance of Party ID cards has been marked by inconsistencies and a lack of coordination, raising significant concerns among various regions, constituencies, and Members of Parliament,” the statement read.

The General Secretary stressed that the disorderly nature of the exercise not only undermines the credibility of the NPP’s membership database but also compromises the integrity of the party’s internal structures.

To mitigate the growing concerns and restore order, Mr. Frimpong directed a complete suspension of all issuance of party ID cards until further notice.
He assured stakeholders that the national leadership would soon issue new directives to guide a more transparent and accountable identification process.

“This measure is imperative to ensure a more transparent and organized process moving forward,” he added, while calling on all regional and constituency executives to comply promptly.
