NPP Minority Slams Mahama Over Propaganda Speech

The NPP Minority in Parliament has slammed President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly engaging in propaganda during his 2025 State of the Nation address.

According to former Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, President Mahama’s assertions that the economy is in a dire situation are misleading.

Dr. Amin Adam stated that “the true state of our economy is that economic growth has rebounded strongly.”
He made these comments during the Minority’s version of the True State of the Nation Address at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 3.

The Karaga lawmaker emphasized that the past government left gross international reserves of $8.9 billion, which is being used to shore up the cedi.

However, President Mahama failed to mention this in his address.
Dr. Amin Adam accused President Mahama of ignoring the facts and instead choosing to engage in propaganda.

During the State of the Nation address, President Mahama expressed concern over the state of the nation, stating that Ghana’s economy is in crisis and citizens are experiencing severe hardships.

He attributed the current difficulties to various economic challenges, including rising inflation, high levels of debt, and a struggling private sector.

President Mahama emphasized the need for strategic policies to boost local industries, improve revenue generation, and manage public debt effectively.

However, the Minority has disputed his claims, arguing that the economy is not as dire as President Mahama suggested.

The Minority’s response to the State of the Nation address highlights the ongoing debate about Ghana’s economic situation.

While President Mahama has painted a bleak picture, the Minority argues that the economy is rebounding strongly.
