NPP Takes On Adwoa Safo

A war of words has erupted between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Sarah Adwoa Safo, former MP for Dome Kwabenya over the party’s decision to drag her to the National Disciplinary Committee.

According to the NPP, Safo’s recent comments in the media, particularly on the Pulse Show of Joy News, are in clear contravention of the party’s directive to cease discussing issues that create disaffection within the party in the media.

However, Adwoa Safo has fired back, questioning the authority of the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, to tell her not to speak.

“Who is the NPP General Secretary to tell us not to speak? When he was doing a media tour from radio stations to TV stations explaining himself after our defeat in order to gain solidarity from party executives to maintain his position, who questioned him? Nobody can shut my mouth not to talk,” she fired.

Sarah Adwoa Safo also warned the General Secretary that he has an election coming and should not allow himself to be manipulated by others.

“The General Secretary should know very well that he has an election coming and must not be allowed for people to manipulate him,” she added.

The NPP’s decision to take disciplinary action against Adwoa Safo is based on her failure to adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity that have always defined the party.

As a former Member of Parliament, former Deputy Majority Leader, and Former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, Safo was expected to set a good example.

However, her actions have been deemed to be in breach of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which enjoins members to promote and defend the good name of the Party.

“Her failure to do so not only reflects poorly on her but also undermines the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward,” Kodua Frimpong noted.

The development comes on the heels of the party’s defeat in the last election, which has left many members expressing their anger, disappointment, and frustration on various platforms.
