In a significant development, the Parliament of Ghana has approved 13 deputy ministerial nominees and one Minister of State, paving the way for them to take office.
The approved nominees, who underwent vetting by the Appointments Committee, include notable figures such as Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, and Ernest Brogya Genfi, Deputy Minister for Defence.
The list of approved deputy ministers also includes Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Deputy Minister for Finance, Alhassan Suhuyini, Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, and John Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture.
Other notable approvals include Dr. Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, and Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Deputy Minister for the Interior.
The approval of these nominees follows the adoption of the twelfth and thirteenth reports of the Appointments Committee.
The committee had begun vetting the nominees on February 26, 2025, and subsequently recommended them for approval by the House.
The approved Minister of State nominee is Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, who will serve as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms.
The approval of these nominees marks a significant milestone in the formation of President John Dramani Mahama’s government.
The approved nominees are expected to be sworn into office soon, marking the beginning of their tenure in their respective roles.
