A devastating crime has shaken the small town of Akrokere in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
A 29-year-old pregnant woman, Ama Rita, and her two-year-old daughter were found brutally murdered near a stream, leaving the community gripped with fear.
According to Ernest Appiah Sampson, Assembly Member for the Biribi Wo Oman Yi Mu Electoral Area, the victims were discovered about 20 meters apart, with visible signs of assault, suggesting foul play.
Ernest Sampson described the scene as “heartbreaking” and revealed that the woman had struggled with her attackers before being overpowered.
The incident occurred near a stream, and the bodies had been there for about four days before they were discovered.
Ama Rita was a hardworking trader who prepared and sold kenkey and other food items, especially during funerals in the area.
Her tragic death has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents now living in fear.
The police have launched an investigation into the gruesome crime, and the bodies have been deposited at the Obuasi Dwaden OD Mortuary.
Ernest Sampson emphasized that the community is cooperating fully with the authorities to unravel the mystery behind the murders.
