Shatta Wale Asks Mahama To Appoint 4 Artistes As Cultural Ambassadors

Reggae-dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has made a passionate public appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to consider officially endorsing four Ghanaian artists as cultural ambassadors to represent Ghana across the globe through tourism, arts, and culture in 2025.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the outspoken musician stated, “At least this year, the president of Ghana will sign 4 Ghanaian artists to represent Ghana across the globe through tourism and arts and culture!!” The call has since sparked significant discussion and support on social media.

Shatta Wale emphasized the important role musicians play in the nation-building process, insisting that Ghanaian artists have done more than enough to earn state recognition.

“Ghana musicians deh try too much. No wonder we don’t have war here!!! If no be music like many kpai for here,” he remarked, highlighting the unifying power of music and its influence on social harmony.

He further argued that the entertainment sector, particularly music, contributes to promoting Ghana’s cultural identity internationally, attracting attention and fostering tourism.

“Music creates more attention and audience, so giving such opportunity to Ghanaian musicians will give them more opportunity to promote the rich culture and beauties in the country,” he explained.

Shatta Wale, who has consistently voiced concerns about the development and welfare of the creative arts industry, stressed that many musicians owe their progress in life to their craft and deserve platforms to elevate their careers while representing Ghana.

“Some of us are where we are because of music, and for that matter, Ghanaian musicians should be given such opportunity,” he noted.
