Sonnie Badu Condemns Prophets Of Doom

Ghanaian gospel musician Sonnie Badu has added his voice to the ongoing debate about the role of prophets in society.

In a recent Facebook post, Badu condemned prophets who specialize in foretelling doom and death, labeling them as “prophets of doom.”

His comments come on the heels of recent prophecies about the health of Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

The Vice President was recently flown abroad for medical treatment, sparking a flurry of prophecies from various prophets.

According to Badu, prophecy should be life-affirming and redemptive, rather than focusing on negative outcomes.

He argued that prophets who foretell doom and death are not only unhelpful but also bring fear and anxiety to those who hear their prophecies.

“I have seen, in recent times, prophets lose family members, and when you see how devastated and broken they were, you would understand that losing a family member is no joke,” Badu wrote.

“Dear major and minor prophets, there is something called the word of wisdom, which simply means that whatever you see, you should speak with wisdom.”
