Tinny Opens Up About Journey To Rapping In Ga

Veteran Ghanaian rapper Tinny has revealed that he originally started his career rapping in Twi and English before switching to Ga.

This decision, he said, was driven by his desire to stay true to himself and his roots.

Tinny’s journey to becoming one of the most celebrated rappers is a fascinating story of self-discovery and artistic growth.

From Twi to Ga

Tinny explained that he initially chose to rap in Twi due to its commercial advantages.

“Twi is the most spoken language in Ghana, so when you’re doing something in Twi, you perceive that the faster it will go,” he said.

However, he later realized that this approach wasn’t authentic to his identity.

“I wasn’t a Ga rapper, but I decided to go back to my roots and represent where I’m coming from,” he added.

Moment of Reckoning

Tinny’s decision to switch to Ga was not influenced by anyone, but rather a personal epiphany.

“No one, I decided myself,” he said, shutting down rumors that producer Hammer encouraged the shift.

Tinny recounted how he met Hammer through another artist, Doggo, who introduced them when Hammer was looking for a Ga rapper.

Working with Hammer

Tinny described working with Hammer as an inspiring experience. “The feeling alone was great,” he said.

“Hammer is the type that can mute everything and drop you some baseline that you go crazy… wow… even before dropping the strings and everything.” Tinny praised Hammer’s ability to bring out the best in him creatively.

Different Perspective

When asked about rumors that some artists find Hammer difficult to work with, Tinny had a different take.

“Maybe it is the understanding,” he said. “I dey worry, but Hammer still works with me.” This insight offers a glimpse into Tinny’s working relationship with Hammer and the mutual respect they share.
