A dramatic scene unfolded at PZ in the Ashanti Regional capital as a young trader confronted the Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, expressing his frustration over the lack of action taken to protect traders’ investments.
The trader’s impassioned plea, however, took a turn when the police attempted to silence him by arresting him, sparking outrage among the trading community.
According to eyewitnesses, the trader vented his anger, saying that their investments were being allowed to “burn to ashes” while the authorities did nothing to intervene.
The situation escalated when the police tried to take the trader into custody, prompting a chorus of disapproval from the gathered traders.
They hooted at the Minister and the police, condemning the arrest as a ridiculous move.
In response to the incident, Dr. Amoakohene took to his Facebook page to deny allegations that he was attacked by the trader.
“I have received numerous calls regarding a false publication by @JoyPrimetv on Instagram claiming I was attacked by a gentleman at PZ”.
“This is entirely untrue and a needless false alarm. I am safe and sound — and I am not the person in the said video. Kindly disregard the misinformation,” he stated.
