Vice President To Operate From Osu Castle

The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is expected to return home this week following a medical trip abroad, according to sources within the Presidency.
Attempts to get official confirmation were not successful.

Upon her arrival, she will be operating from a Safe House, close to Osu Castle, the historic former seat of government, which has been designated as a secure and private location to aid in her recovery and reduce pressure.

The Vice President, who is 72 years old, is reportedly recovering from a heart-related condition that required emergency treatment in London.

She was initially hospitalized at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, shortly after she participated in a public iftar event with Muslim women in Accra.

According to government communications, her condition was deemed serious enough to warrant further medical attention abroad.

Though officials have not confirmed the exact location, unverified reports suggest she was flown to London for medical care.
With her impending return, preparations are in advanced stage to relocate her to Osu Castle Safe House

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, last week confirmed her travel and emphasized the importance of following medical advice.

“The Vice President will be seeking further medical care abroad, based on expert medical opinion,” his statement read.

After weeks of treatment, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is said to be in stable condition and responding well to care.

Her planned stay at the Osu Safe House is described by officials as a necessary measure to ensure peace and privacy during her recovery.

“This is to prevent her from engaging in strenuous public activity or facing undue pressure during this delicate recovery phase,” a source at the Jubilee House noted.

She is expected to continue working on essential matters remotely while maintaining a low profile, guided by enhanced security protocols.
Sources said she is taking some partial leave to speed up her recovery.

She is expected to resume limited official duties during her three-week medical leave, working from the Osu Castle Safe House while remaining out of the public spotlight.
