The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament has issued a stern warning to President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of attempting to deceive Ghanaians once again with his administration’s handling of the economy.
According to former Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government lacks direction and has worsened the country’s financial challenges.
“It is evident that the NDC government is merely stalling for time, hoping to shift blame instead of taking responsibility for the dire economic situation they have created,” Dr. Amin Adam stated.
“This is a deliberate strategy to cover up their incompetence” Dr Amin Adam stated at a Press conference held in Parliament on Monday.
The Minority has criticized the government’s approach to economic management, arguing that it has failed to implement sustainable policies to stabilize the economy.
Dr. Amin Adam noted that the administration’s handling of the economy has resulted in increased hardship for Ghanaians, with inflation, high taxation, and a struggling private sector stifling growth.
“We will not allow the NDC to deceive the people of Ghana with rhetoric and excuses,” Dr. Amin Adam emphasized.
“The economic hardship is real, and the government must take full responsibility for its failures.”
The Minority has also expressed concerns over the government’s decision to hold forums like the National Economic Dialogue, which they believe are merely attempts to distract the public from the real issues.
“Rather than taking decisive steps to resolve the economic crisis, the government continues to hold forums to deceive the people of Ghana,” Dr. Amin Adam said.
The NPP Minority’s warning to President Mahama comes on the heels of his recent State of the Nation Address, which they believe was an attempt to shift blame and deceive Ghanaians.
