The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has taken a bold step to investigate the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections in the Ashanti Region.
Following the painful loss, Chairman Wontumi constituted a committee led by Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to probe the reasons behind the defeat.
The committee, which was formed even before the National Council constituted a National Committee, demonstrated the regional party’s commitment to understanding the root causes of their challenges.
Through an extensive probe, the committee engaged with the grassroots, including markets, churches, mosques, and communities, to hear directly from the people.
This approach ensured that every voice was heard and every concern noted.
Recently, the committee submitted its report to the Regional Executive Council, marking a significant step towards correcting the party’s mistakes and repositioning themselves for victory.
Chairman Wontumi emphasized the importance of unity, stating that with the findings, they will work closely with the larger party structure to pursue, overtake, and recover all, as inspired by David in 1 Samuel 30:8.
With the 2028 elections in sight, Chairman Wontumi expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious, stating that the journey starts now, with unity and collective effort being key to success.
The Ashanti Region, being a stronghold of the NPP, will play a crucial role in the party’s quest for victory in 2028.
